Dynamics for "The Entertainer" and "La Cumparsita"

People,

Not much people (or no one) copied down the dynamics when I wrote it on the board. So I'm going to post it up on the blog, for reference.
PLEASE PRACTICE YOUR SONGS WITH DYNAMICS.

Guitar 1:
THE ENTERTAINER
PAGE 1
-1st Line 5th Bar ➔ Gradually get louder (Crescendo) until the next bar, first note.
-2nd Line First 3 bars ➔ Loud. (Forte Volume) Except for the two notes at the third bar.
*Apply this at appropriate areas such as: 2nd Line, 3rd bar last 2 notes till 3rd Line 2nd bar first note and other areas*
-Last line whole line must be loud. At Forte volume.

PAGE 2
-Repetition in Tunes must have difference in Volume. The first time must be louder than the second time you play it. (eg. 1st Line 1st bar first few notes till 1st line 2nd bar first 3 notes. These few notes must be louder that the next few notes, those are the repetition.)
-3rd Line Last Bar Last 3 notes SOFT. Until last line.

PAGE 3.
-Overall Mood ➔ Gentle
-1st Line 3rd bar ➔ This note must be softer and sweeter than the previous note. APPLIES TO OTHER AREAS. Eg. 3rd Line 1st Note Softer & Sweeter than 2nd Line Last Note. etc.
-Last line last 2 bars ➔ Gradually getting louder. Continues on until 4th Page 1st 2 bars. **Remember what Mr Chua said, the more "phases" of your volume, we would score more in SYF.

PAGE 1
-PLEASE DO NOT RUSH. If not, you will suffer at 4th bar 3rd Bar last 2 beats.
-Again, Do not rush at Last bar of 1st page till first 2 bars of Page 2.

-Last 3 bars ➔ Gradually Louder.
Bar 52 - 53 ➔ Soft.
Bar 54 - 55 ➔ Medium Volume
Bar 56 - 57 ➔ Loud
Bar 58 ➔ Get more louder.

-1st Line Last bar, 1st beat ➔ REMEMBER THAT THIS IS 4 SEMIQUAVERS. This is not one quaver and 3 semiquavers. A feedback from Stacy.
-2nd Line Last Bar ➔ Suddenly Soft.
-3rd Line 1st 2 bars ➔ Gradually getting louder
-4th Line 3rd Bar ➔ Suddenly soft.

Last few notes: Remember, all notes must be SHORT, LOUD. Last note to be MUTED IMMEDIATELY at the end of the song. DO NOT bang your guitar in the process.

-Tremolo must be CONSISTENT and LOUD.
-Certain notes must be one stroke. Like what Mr Chia does when we finish doing the C major scale on 5th position tremolo.
Here are these notes: 2nd Line 4th bar first note, 3rd line first note, 3rd line 3rd bar first note, and 3rd line last bar 1st note.

-3rd Line 2nd Bar last 3 notes ➔ Should the whole of Guitar 2 be playing this?
-Last 3 bars ➔ Gradually Louder.
Bar 52 - 53 ➔ Soft.
Bar 54 - 55 ➔ Medium Volume
Bar 56 - 57 ➔ Loud
Bar 58 ➔ Get more louder.

-2nd Line Last Bar ➔ Suddenly Soft.

-1st Line 4th Bar ➔ 1st note should be clear, yet soft and short. Rest properly, clearly and promptly.
-1st Line 5th Bar ➔ Gradually get louder (Crescendo) until the next bar.
-2nd Line First 3 bars ➔ Loud. (Forte Volume)
*Apply this at appropriate areas such as: 2nd Line, 4th bar till 3rd Line 2nd bar first note and other areas*
-Passing bass at 3rd line, 2nd bar must be clear.
-Last line whole line must be loud. At Forte volume.

-Repetition in Tunes must have difference in Volume. The first time must be louder than the second time you play it. (eg. 1st Line 2nd bar and 1st line 3rd bar. These first time playing the chords should be louder than your second time playing the chords, those are the repetition.)
-Last Line ➔ SOFT. Then you get gradually louder.

-Last line last 2 bars ➔ Gradually getting louder. Continues on until 4th Page 1st 2 bars. **Remember what Mr Chua said, the more "phases" of your volume, we would score more in SYF.

-Your strumming patter at 1st bar ...
1st quaver ➔ "Forte" Volume
*QUAVER REST* This is important
2nd quaver ➔ "Piano" volume
*QUAVER REST* This is ALSO important
3rd quaver ➔ "Piano" volume
*QUAVER REST* Important.
4th beat ➔ 2 Quavers ...
In these 2 quaver, you will need to crescendo these notes, such that the next bar first quaver would be in "forte" volume.
Recommended➔1st Quaver -Mezzo Piano
2nd Quaver - Mezzo Forte.

-Strumming patter at 10th bar ➔ All Mr Chua said about this was that the loudest chord in this bar should not be louder than the loudest chord in the 1st bar.

-3rd Line Last bar - The 4 Am Chords, Please remember to play these without rushing, make it clear.

-Last 3 bars ➔ Gradually Louder.
Bar 52 - 53 ➔ Soft.

    Guitarists please write these dynamics on the score that Millie helped to cut out (that is the one with only your guitar part. This is to avoid the turning of pages during SYF.
